Located just steps from the Pacific Ocean, the Del Mar Thoroughbred Club and racetrack are known as “Where the Turf Meets the Surf”. The races usually begin during mid-summer to early fall and offers endless entertainment for horse enthusiasts. The racetrack was built by Bing Crosby, Pat O’Brien, Jimmy Durante, and Charles S. Howard in the late 1930’s and has grown to be one of the premier racetracks in the country.

The annual San Diego Fair is held at the fairgrounds where thousands gather to enjoy rides, games, food, exhibits, concerts, and more. The fairgrounds is also host to over 300 events throughout the year.

Travelers from all over the world visit this stretch of land which is home to peaceful walking trails, rare Torrey Pine trees, unspoiled beaches, the Los Penasquitos lagoon, and a visitor center. The reserve is a day-use park only, so overnight camping is prohibited.

Enjoy a nice, relaxing picnic while absorbing the beauty of Del Mar at the Powerhouse Park. The park features a playground and is a popular spot for music events during the summer. The community center is a historic site that used to be a hotel as well as a nightclub in past lifetimes.
