Bird Rock

Bird Rock is the southern-most neighborhood of La Jolla that derives its name from the large white rock located just offshore.  Residents enjoy nice, quiet picnics in the neighborhood parks like La Jolla Hermosa Park and Calumet Park or go shopping in one of the many locally-owned shops and boutiques lining La Jolla Blvd.

Bird Rock homes offer spectacular views of the coastline, reefs, and small coves.  Most of the homes were built between the 1920’s and 50’s and some of older, cottage homes remain.  However most of them have been torn down to be replaced by much larger homes. 

One of the hidden treasures of Bird Rock is its restaurant row consisting of some of the best restaurants in San Diego.  Taste of Bird Rock, an annual event taking place during the summertime, celebrates the people and spirit of the neighborhood.  It’s a time when locals gather to sample food from the restaurants and experience the charm of this seaside town.
